Four ways in
None of them asks you to switch tabs.
The side panel
⌘/Ctrl + Shift + K opens Ragnight beside the page. Ask, or search for a precise passage.
The selection
Highlight, right-click, "Ask Ragnight". The passage arrives quoted in the question.
The address bar
Type rg then your question: documents surface as suggestions. rg go/roadmap resolves your go links.
Capture
A useful passage that lives nowhere? Right-click, and it becomes a document in the base you choose.
Finding the document is not enough. It also has to be true.
An enterprise search engine takes you to the document. It does not tell you that it was superseded six months ago, nor that a more recent note contradicts it. This is where the companion does a different job.
The guard rail
You are reading an internal page. If the matching document was marked as no longer authoritative, superseded, or found to contradict another one, a banner says so — with a link to the version that holds.
The banner only appears on pages you are allowed to see, and the extension reads nothing beyond the active tab's address.
Capture
The text leaves from the browser, already rendered. An intranet behind SSO, a space the crawler cannot reach, a thread with no connector: all of it becomes filable into a base — with one right-click.
If the page is already in the corpus, the extension says so before writing rather than creating a duplicate that will silently diverge.
A browser extension sees everything you do. This one does not.
These are not marketing-page promises: they are permissions absent from the manifest. What is never requested from the browser cannot be obtained.
What it does
- Search and answer across the bases you already have access to
- Send only what you type or select
- Open your threads in Ragnight — the panel's conversation is the Hub's conversation
- Ask for write access separately, through a second consent screen
What it cannot do
- Read the content of the pages you visit — no injected script
- Enumerate your tabs or your browsing history
- Hold your password — it only carries a revocable personal key
- Outlive your departure: the key is capped live to your current rights
Your rights, re-evaluated on every request
The key the extension holds is not a copy of your permissions: it is a handle to your identity. A role change narrows it the same day, an offboarding makes it inert. There is no revocation step to forget.
